Grand bé and petit bé Islands
At the foot of the ramparts of St Malo, at low tide, the Grand Bé island becomes a peninsula; you can walk over and visit the tomb of Chateaubriand, the illustrious writer from St Malo. Be sure to check the tide schedule before accessing it. Nearby, Le Petit Be island, a veritable warship at anchor built by Vauban in the 17th century to defend the old town. Open depending on tides and weather, on foot or by ferry boat.
